About the Association

The full name is "HSB:s bostadsrättsförening Kåpan nr 272". However, this often feels a bit formal, so the association is usually referred to as "Brf Kåpan", or simply "Kåpan".

Brf Kåpan consists of 111 apartments in Älvsjö. The association was founded on November 25, 1983, and was registered with the County Administrative Board on March 12, 1984.

In 1987, the ownership was handed over to the residents.

The buildings were designed by Kerstin Gåsste Architect Office (who also designed the buildings in our neighboring association Brf Kupan, represented by the two tall buildings in the center of the image) and were constructed by JSS (now known as NCC).

The image above is taken from a brochure titled "Bofakta från HSB". Its full name is actually "HSB Stockholm bygger brf. Kåpan i Älvsjö, 111 lägenheter med bostadsrätt i flerfamiljshus – Bofakta från HSB", which isn’t the most convenient title, so we simply call it "Bofakta från HSB". The brochure was used in marketing the apartments before the sale. On page 2, the apartments and housing types are described as follows:

“When the residential area is fully developed, it will contain 111 apartments. The types of apartments are distributed as follows:

30 units 2 rrooms and kitchen 70.0 m²
53 units 3 rooms and kitchen 75,5 – 85,5 m²
3 units 3 rooms and kitchen 108,5 m²
17 units 4 rooms and kitchen 88,0 m²
8 units 5 rooms and kitchen 109,0 – 116,5 m²

Three of the 3-room apartments (108.5 m²) are adapted for people with reduced mobility, and 10 are senior apartments. All buildings have elevators.

The buildings are corridor-style apartment blocks constructed with 3 or 4 floors and have balconies in light metal. The facades are made of light red brick with metal elements in red. The roofs are covered with concrete tiles. The houses are pleasantly grouped around two courtyards, and between the building groups runs an access road to the area.”

The image itself is from page 6 and shows the model of the area that was created during the construction and now stands in the boardroom.
